Publications

A large number of scientific publications and patents were produced, whereby the tyre-specific work can be called up here as full-text documents.

The beginning of my tyre career followed my mechanical engineering studies at the Institute of Automotive Engineering at the University of Hanover in cooperation with Continental. In the dissertation with the topic “the normal force distribution of the belt tyre” [1] a mechanical, spatial substitute model of the tyre is created. The order network of the tire is mapped and the processes in the pumped rotationally symmetrical tire and during flattening are calculated.

A summary of this work is published in ATZ [2].

Further studies concern the behaviour of tyres under long-term ageing under different conditions. On the one hand, tyres were aged for more than ten years and then the change in high-speed strength was determined in the high-speed test [3]. In a further study together with Prof. Seitz, the compound ageing with regard to steel cord rubber adhesion to test specimens was determined in the laboratory and influences were presented [4].

The publication [5] represents the excursion into the development of cast tyres. In a project sponsored by the BMFT, casting tyres made of polyurethane were developed. The manufacturing process, the materials and the design were investigated [6]. This also resulted in patents on the manufacturing process [6,7,8,9].

In a consumption study on city buses [10] the influence on fuel consumption was quantified, which was published in the publication of the same name.

The publication “Design of the reinforcement of a PU tyre” [11] completes the list. The steel cord reinforcement was calculated for a plastic tyre produced by the fibre winding process.
